Count your blessings!

Dear Diary:
Today we have mighty expectations even for the little things. When you think about it, it’s a bit of a miracle that we rarely give a thought as to who grows the pumpkins and corn, but we expect them to be there when we want them. So, on Thanksgiving, give a thought to the mighty little expectations of the founders and count your blessings. Have a great holiday!

Something else to be thankful for this Thanksgiving —
A FRIEND
There is no greater blessing
Than an understanding friend
Who’s there in times of trouble
And on whom we can depend —
Who shares our happy moments
And brightens cloudy days,
A friend who’s slow to criticize
But quick to offer praise,
A friend who knows the faults we have
But loves us as we are —
Of all the blessings life can bring,
A friend’s the best by far!

Dear Diary:
Do you believe in ghosts or other-worldly beings and things? Many do!
According to a poll by the Associated Press and Ipsos, of people interviewed 34 percent believe in ghosts... and about 19 percent believe in witches and spells. That's the same percentage of people who believe in UFOs (unidentified flying objects), and 14 percent say they have actually seen one.

What about ESP and superstitious?
Forty-eight percent, mostly Caucasion, believe in extrasensory perception (ESP).
One in five say they are at least somewhat superstitious, with young men and minorities being more likely to seek good luck. Twenty-six percent of city dwellers say they are a little superstitious, but only 13 percent of rural people say they are.
The most admitted superstition was wanting to find a four-leaf clover for good luck. Thirteen percent avoid walking under a ladder or letting the groom see his bride just before the wedding. Smaller numbers named black cats, broken mirrors and Friday the 13th.

Fall Cooking Classes
Posted On 2011-10-08 , 1:23 PM
Dear Diary:
One of our favorite sites is Sur la table: The Art & Soul of Cooking. Right now, they not only have an Autumn sale going on, but are holding Fall Cooking Classes throughout the country that include Halloween treats from Martha Stewart Living...Brownie Coffin Cake - Halloween Whoopie Pies - Pumpkin Chocolate-Spiderweb Tart - Chocolate Rice Crispy Treats, anyone? ^.^ You can find the times, locations, and costs here.
We especially like it when they hold classes for kids and teens. You can even create your own class... catered to your specific need. It's a fun site to visit that will stimulate your imagination and make your mouth water, too. Don't say we didn't warn you!
