What fun! My! My! My!

scavenger huntDear Diary,

I think I found a way to hear from a busy mom (my own daughter) ^.^  Yesterday I tweeted the question: What's your favorite outdoor game for kids? And since I have my Twitter account linked to my Facebook account, my daughter Joan picked up on it through her FB account and commented about the recent success of her daughter (my granchild) Paige's Scavanger Hunt. (Paige is the pitcher on a local softball team conducting the Scavanger Hunt. Pardon my bragging... a grandma's 'right'!)

Here are the comments I received from Joan:

Paige's softball team had an end of season scavenger hunt that included about 3 miles of territory, all running to the target places. She thought it was going to be in the back yard--not!

Scavenger Hunt - for tweens and teens. Paige gave the neighborhood boys a list of like 40 things. They needed to bring proof so someone with a camera phone took pictures - at least 3 of the 4 people on the team had to be in the picture. Examples were:
  • Find the deer (neighbor has a deer in the front yard, didn't have to be a live deer).
  • Take a picture of a book.
  • Picture of a neighbor's bathroom with you and the neighbor in the picture (must have persmission).
  • Picture of cute little dog.
Stuff like that all around the neighborhood. They had 1.45 hrs. to get it done and come back. Everyone got a slurpy; winning team got starbursts. The kids still talk about it!

What's your favorite outdoor game for kids?  Need ideas? Check out these Backyard Games.  And if you feel creative, make up a game or activity; tell us about it in the  comment box below. ^.^
