Collecting Postcards

Posted On 2012-05-20 , 6:47 PM

Dear Diary,

digital scrapbook
It occurred to me while working on another page on the website that Summer vacationing officially begins over Memorial Day weekend in the United States. That's next weekend! It is the perfect opportunity for kids to start a new hobby as a year-round endeavor and one the whole family can enjoy, too; i.e., collecting postcards.

A fun and easy way to add to the collection is to send postcards during your vacation to your pet/s (even if it is only a goldfish) or a family member that had to stay at home for some reason; but be sure the postcards have pictures of the sights or activities you're experiencing on the way and at your vacation spot. It could be a seasonal activity such as a fishing tournament or famous landmark. Think of the fun you'll have when you get home and see the postcards again.

Then add the postcards and other memorabelia to one of your scrapbooks - your pet, vacation, or postcard scrapbook while it's still fresh on your mind. It'll help you when describing the events that took place. And if you're adventurous... go digital! (See the scrapbook on the left. ^.^)

For more ideas on collecting postcards and preserving them see the Monthly Project on page 2 of the June '09 BuzzLetter and you'll find Scrapbooking Ideas here.  Happy Collecting, everybody!
