It doesn’t have to be Valentine’s Day to show some LOVE! Any day will do. ^.~ ! Here's a crafty idea to show some love by making HEART EGGS:
~ Source: FolkWisdomMagazine.com
Fold a thick cardstock or cardboard piece down the middle.
Place hardboiled egg on its side, in the middle of the folded cardstock.
Take a long thin wooden piece (like a skewer, round chopstick, thin dowel, or kids paint brush) that would extend most of the way along the cardboard and place over the top of the egg so there is slight pressure.
Secure a rubber band around each end of your stick to the top ends of the cardstock.
Place in fridge; after about 3 or 4 hours remove.
Cut egg in half.
Serve as a cute side to someone you ♥; or slice to add a decorative taste to a salad. Now go enjoy this crafty idea!
We've decided to add a new board to our Pinterest Boards titled Hobby Ideas in support of our Scrapbooking page (for one.) ^.^ We're starting with The Desktop Jellyfist Tank which, actually, can fit just about anywhere in a kid's room.
"The Desktop Jellyfish Tank’s patent-pending design gives marine enthusiasts and aquarium lovers a chance to have jellyfish right before their eyes. This complete starter kit even includes a voucher (with free overnight shipping) for 3 moon jellyfish and six months of food. Add water, plug it in and be mesmerized by their moon-shaped bodies glowing with the changing color of the tank’s LED light. Designed by Jellyfish Art's team of engineers, this tank is still new to the market so you get to be among the first to have it in your home and brag about having jellyfish as pets."
So, if you can't or don't have stars on your ceiling, ask your parents if you can have a jellyfish tank on your desk. Want to learn about keeping jellyfish first? Check out the book below. You can see more reef creatures similar to the jellyfish here. ^.^
We just added Scrapbooking to our Pinterest Boards as an extension to our Scrapbooking Ideas page. It'll give you some more ideas for designing your covers and subject matters.
This is a great hobby for the winter months when it's too cold to go outside for long periods of play. So all those pics, movie stubs, and other mementos from your travels and field trips that you've stuffed in your desk drawer are just begging for a place of their own in a creative scrapbook of your making. Have fun!
We've added several new categories to our Pinterest Boards and oodles of pins to many of them; especially Crafty Ideas and Halloween. For other boards we're gradually building on them as we come across pin-worthy items... always keeping in mind the upcoming holidays and special occasions - stuff we think you'd like to see and share.
The categories are in alpha order, so they'll be easy peasy to find; however, the pins are random (we can't make it too easy, you know; but, we think you're up for the challenge). ^.~
Be sure to check out:
Crafty Ideas - little burlap owl, spider web balloon, and cinnamon stick candles
Fun Nails - nails for all occasions, including spooky nails for Halloween
Fun Recipes- leaf sugar cookies, mummy pizzas, and Halloween snack mix.
Note: The pins (images) vary depending on the source; for example, some of the Fun Recipe images may be tied to a price offered by the original pinner on their own boards and do not include a 'secret' or 'family' recipe. Most food and craft images, however, do include the recipe or instruction for making them in your own kitchen or craft area. If you'd like to try making some but can't find the instructions by clicking on the images, let us know; we'll do our best to track them down for you.
Container Gardening is a great way to get kids involved in gardening.
Why is it so great? Kids eat what they grow... not just the watermelons; but the veggies, too. It's a good thing! (Sound familiar.) And it makes a great hobby.
* You don't need acreage to grow a few veggies * It can be done in small areas with containers.
Patio, balcony and window-boxes are considered container gardening. Gardeners will be pleased with some of this year's offerings. They offer a way to get edibles or blooms in smaller spaces.
EarthBox, a maker of self-watering plant containers, has a half-size version for growing herbs and salad greens on deck railings, patios, fire escapes or inside by a kitchen window.
Gardeners Supply Co., Birmingham, VT., has raised beds that can be put right on a patio. Pepper, tomato plants and others come in bags. In the fall, they can be wheeled from the driveway into the garage on frosty nights. And while flowers are pretty as shown in the window box, so is a row of lettuces. Check these out:
