The 2013 Winter X Games Aspen begins today, January 24, at Buttermilk Park, Aspen CO and continues for 4 action-packed days of competition in skiing, snowboarding, and snowmobile throw-down.
Buttermilk Park has over 100 features including a 22-foot superpipe and an X Games slopestyle course. For the beginner: Panda Pipe and Ski & Snowboard Schools Park (S3 Park).

Game On! The 2012 Winter Youth Olympic Games begins today - January 13, 2012 to January 22, 2012 - Innsbruck, Austria
Athletes must be 14-18 years old to be eligible to compete in the 12 featured sports, and 14 disciplines.
"The vision of the innovative concept for the new sport event – Youth Olympic Games (YOG) – is to inspire young people around the world to participate in sport and adopt and live by the Olympic values of excellence, friendship, respect."

The 2012 Inaugural Winter Youth Olympic Games in Innsbruck, Austria are just 90 days away. The U.S. Olympic Committee is sending a team of more than 60 athletes. In a nutshell, here are some facts as of this date:

Overview:
The 2012 Winter Youth Olympic Games is an international multi-sport event held under the authority of the International Olympic Committee that will take place every four years, consistent with the current format of the Olympic Winter Games. The Innsbruck 2012 Winter Youth Olympic Games will run from Jan. 13-22, with an expected 1,057 athletes from more than 80 countries participating.
The Particulars:
The sport program will encompass these disciplines - biathlon (cross-country and rifle shooting), bobsleigh, curling, figure skating, ice hockey, luge, skeleton, skiing - alpine, freestyle, Nordic combined (ski jump and cross-country), snowboard, speedskating (short-track and long track) - and a total of 63 events.
