Digimon - Season 2

Based on its success, it was probably no surprise that Digimon picked up a second season. Set a few years after the first season and featuring new characters and Digimon, the second season had all the fun Digimon had the first time around with some new twists that fans enjoyed:

Digimon (Season 2) - the characters:

- Davis Motomiya: the new leader of the DigiDestined, he’s a lot like Tai in that he’s brash and impulsive. He also has a crush on Kari. His Digimon partner is V-Mon, a hyper dinosaur-type Digimon.
- Yolei Inoue: she takes after Izzy in being the group’s tech expert. Her partner, Hawkmon, is male, making them the first mixed human-Digimon pairing.
- Cody Hida: the youngest of the new DigiDestined, he’s very mature for his age and tries to think things through, much like Joe. His partner is Armadillomon, who speaks with a cowboy accent and, like Gabumon, tries to get Cody to lighten up.
- T.K. Takaishi: one of the original DigiDestined who joins the new members, he has grown up over the years and is more level-headed. Along with Kari and Patamon, he helps guide the new DigiDestined.
- Kari Kamiya: Tai’s younger sister who was revealed as the eighth DigiDestined in the first season, her partner being the cat-like Gatomon. She’s aware of Davis’ crush on her but doesn’t return his feelings.

- Ken Ichijouji/Digimon Emperor: a skilled child prodigy, Ken turned out to be the first villain, the Digimon Emperor, trying to conquer the Digital World. Upon realizing the Digital World was real and not a computer game, he joins the group and tries to make up for his misdeeds with his partner, Wormmon.
- Arukenimon: one of the new villains who takes over after the defeat of the Digimon Emperor. Appearing human, she takes on a spider-like appearance in battle.
- Mummymon: Arukenimon’s partner as the new villains fighting the DigiDestined. Resembling a mummy in battle, his human appearance has a long blue coat and a cane.
Digimon (Season 2) - the storyline:
Several years after the first series, T.K. and Kari join a new group of DigiDestined – Davis, Yolei and Cody – and their partners to battle a new threat to the Digital World: the Digimon Emperor, a human boy out to conquer it and control the Digimon with his Dark Rings. Armed with new Digivices called D3s, the new DigiDestined use a new form of Digi-volving known as “Armor Digi-volve” to battle controlled Digimon. The group is shocked when the Digimon Emperor turns out to be Ken Ichijouji, a known celebrity who befriends them but then takes delight in tormenting them.
However, after defeating the Emperor, the group soon learns that Ken wasn’t truly evil, nor was he the real threat. They soon face off against the pair of Arukenimon and Mummymon, who cause their own form of mayhem. With a repentant Ken joining them, the DigiDestined battle these new foes, as well as their powerful creation, BlackWarGreymon. |
