Saving the World... Before Bedtime
When they’re not attending Pokey Oaks Kindergarten or spending time at home with their father/creator, Professor Utonium, they’re using their powers of flight, super-strength, super-speed and invulnerability, to battle criminals, super-villains, giant monsters and alien invaders. Of course, they have to do it all before bedtime.
The Girls’ origin is similar to that of many a superhero, beginning in a laboratory. Professor Utonium set out to create the “perfect little girl”, using the ingredients of sugar, spice and everything nice. But while mixing it all together, Utonium’s rowdy lab assistant/pet monkey, Jojo, pushed the Professor, causing him to hit a beaker containing the substance known as “Chemical X”. The chemical was added to the mixture, and after the resulting explosion, three little girls emerged. Given the names of Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup, they soon learned they had superpowers and decided to use them to protect Townsville from the forces of evil.
Siblings and Superheroes
|
The Powerpuff Girls aren’t just teammates in the fight against evil. They are, in fact, sisters, each of whom is different in their own ways. Naturally, these different personalities cause them to fight and argue, sometimes even during a battle… just like any group of siblings would. But at the end of the day, they are family, and they do love each other. The girls are named:
- Blossom: The leader of the Girls, who tends to be rather bossy.
- Bubbles: She’s sweet and nice and loves animals, but has a mean streak when pushed.
- Buttercup: The hothead who loves to fight and often butts head with Blossom and teases Bubbles, but still loves her sisters.

The Girls Growth:
Superheroes they may be, but the Powerpuff Girls are still, little girls, physically and mentally five-years-old. They go to school and have to be in bed at a certain time like most kids. They also still play with toys, have stuffed animals and play with their friends. They also have the same fears all little kids do, such as the dark and scary movies, as well as wanting to be liked by their peers. They also tend to make mistakes, such as listening to the wrong adults, like feminist criminal Femme Fatale or opportunist Dick Hardly, who take advantage of the Girls’ naivete. In the end, though, the Girls learn from their mistakes, which make them better heroes in the end.
A Whole Lot of Puff
