Super strength:
- Super-strong - Lifting greater weights than a normal human (multiple tons), as well as smash through rock and/or solid steel. (Examples: Superman, Hulk)
- Invulnerability - Resisting physical harm to varying levels - can range from high explosives to a nuclear warhead before being harmed. (Examples: Superman, Luke Cage)
- Animal Abilities - Possessing powers similar to that of a particular animal such as bird-like wings or elephant-like strength; may also have physical traits of animals like fangs or claws. (Examples: Animal Man, Beast)
Split-second speeds:
- Super-speed - Moving at speeds up to or faster than the speed of sound (768 miles-per-hour); thinking and reaction time also enhanced. (Examples: Flash, Quicksilver)
- Flight - Flying through the air unaided; can be added effect of existing power or even through physical wings that are part of the body. (Examples: Superman, Angel)
- Teleportation - Moving from place to place without occupying space in between; limits can include how far one can go or where - line of sight or place been to before - or what can take with. (Examples: Nightcrawler, Vanisher)
Power of the senses:
- Heightened Senses - Sound, sight, smell, touch, and taste are heightened beyond normal human levels; such as, night vision (see in the dark) or x-ray vision. (Examples: Daredevil, Wolverine)
- Psychic Powers - Including telepathy (reading minds), telekinesis (moving objects by thought), precognition (seeing the future), empathy (sensing and/or controlling emotions), etc. (Examples: Professor X, Jean Grey)
- Power Mimicry - Copying abilities of others by either sight or through contact; limits can include how long power stays or how many can do at once. (Examples: Rogue, Absorbing Man)
Body changes:
- Shape-shifting - Changing one’s body to different forms - like other people or animals; limits can include not being able to turn into things bigger or smaller than self; having rubber-like body can be included. (Examples: Mystique, Plastic Man)
- Size-changing - Shrinking to size of an atom or growing as tall as a building (could also do both); limits can include how long one can stay in altered form before ill-effects kick in. (Examples: Hank Pym, Atom)
- Healing Factor - Healing at an accelerated rate (even from fatal wounds); rate often depends on how bad wound is. (Examples: Wolverine, Sabretooth)
Changing Surrounding:
- Elemental Control - Controlling earth, wind, water and fire; can be one or up to all four; can also include control over ice, electricity, plants or even the weather. (Examples: Storm, Crystal)
- Energy Manipulation - Blasts, strength boosting, flight, etc., can be generated or absorbed. (Examples: Cyclops, Starfire)
- Matter Manipulation - Changing structure of object or turning it into different form; limits include what types of matter can or can’t change or can only work with what’s on hand. (Examples: Molecule Man)
There are plenty other powers out there, like magic or invisibility, that are too many to list, but can be found if you know where to look. Just remember to be creative in what powers you want to give and what limits characters will have (don’t want them too powerful) and you’ll be able to come up with fun and interesting stories. |
