Sports know-how... short and sweetA perfect example of that would be when you first saw the sport of Curling on the schedule during the 2008 Olympics. Like many other Americans who suddenly became aware of this intriguing sport, we were hooked on watching the competition and couldn't get enough of it. HOWEVER, we wanted to know more about the rules and scoring; you know, short and sweet, the sports know-how... just what was the significance of those lines and circles - not to mention the strategy of "brushing" the ice and technique of throwing the "stone" to gain points. Our feeble search attempts on-line gave us enough insight to follow the game during the Olympics, but we hungered for more after the games were over.
Sports know-how for the newbies So with Curling, the seed was planted to do a series of articles on knowing how to play different sports so the newbies can follow it… you know, a one pager explaining the basic rules with layout or diagram of the playing field (or a link to it). After all, maybe you're not the athletic type; but, want to know enough to be able to watch a game with your spouse, kids, or friends... a bonding opportunity, so to speak. Sooo… here’s the first of the series of articles on sports know-how that we’ll be covering… our test page, so to speak, on Barrel Racing. Let us know what you think. CHART BELOW: We're in the process of adding these "newbie one-pagers" to our Sports Know-How category - if the titles are shining brightly in white text, they're ready for you to click on! Keep checking back to see what's been added... we'll have them all up in time for the 2012 Winter Youth Olympic Games (YOG) that starts on January 13th. ^.^
