Spy Movies for Kids:
Spy Kids: Carmen and Juni Cortez discover that their parents are actually spies and must rescue them from the villainous Mr. Lisp, who wants to take over the world using robotic clones of the children of world leaders. This fun action-comedy, directed by Robert Rodriguez, is the first in the franchise that includes Spy Kids 2: Island of Lost Dreams, Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over and the upcoming Spy Kids 4: All the Time in the World.
Agent Cody Banks works part-time as an undercover superspy for the CIA. For his first mission, he enrolls in the same prep school as the daughter of a scientist working for the villainous Dr. Brinkman, in order to figure out Brinkman’s plot while dealing with the troubles of high school. The character returned in Agent Cody Banks 2: Destination London, where he has to stop a rogue agent from using a stolen mind control device.
Cats & Dogs: What if cats and dogs were really at war with one another, complete with high-tech weapons and super-spy action? That’s what the original 2001 film explored, as rookie dog agent Lou tried to help foil the plot of the evil Mr. Tinkles to make all humans allergic to dogs... it's funny and action-packed. This film is the sequel, Cat & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore, in which the new title villainess tries her plot to take over the world.
Cloak and Dagger: This 1984 film stars Henry Thomas as Davey, a boy hooked onto the fantasy game Cloak and Dagger and its hero, Jack Flack (Dabney Coleman, who also plays Davey’s father Hal). Davey soon becomes involved in a real spy thriller involving a video game containing military secrets, guided by the imaginary Jack Flack. Probably a bit “old” to today’s crowd, this could still be considered a classic for kids to enjoy.
Looney Tunes: Back in Action: The Looney Tunes gang in this animation/live-action mix, in which Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck team with DJ Drake and Kate Houghton to rescue DJ’s action star/superspy dad Damien Drake and stop the Chairman of the Acme Corporation from taking over the world. Tthis fun film spoofs the spy genre in insane ways.
Alex Rider: Operation Stormbreaker: Based on the first book in the Alex Rider book series, written by Anthony Horowitz, Alex Pettyfer stars as the title character, who learns that his Uncle Ian (Ewan McGregor) was an MI6 spy and is recruited to help stop a new supercomputer called Stormbreaker from unleashing a virus that will kill the world’s children.
