Wolf's Rain - the characters:

- Kiba: An Arctic Wolf... who prefers to act on his instincts and is full of pride... takes on a human guise only because he has to.
- Tsume: A Grey Wolf with a scar on his chest keeps to himself and is the resident fighter. He doesn’t really believe in Paradise and only joins the group out of boredom.
- Hige: A Mexican Wolf with a carefree attitude who seems comfortable among humans, even wearing a collar. He goes along with the quest for Paradise, but isn’t as passionate about it as Kiba is.
- Toboe: A Red Wolf who is the youngest of the group and has the best hearing of the wolves. He was raised by an old woman as a pup, and tends to be friendly and protective towards humans.

- Cheza: The “flower maiden” created by the Nobles via alchemy from a Lunar Flower... she is desired by both parties but has a stronger connection to the wolves.
- Quent Yaiden: A former sheriff and wolf hunter is accompanied by his dog, Blue.
- Darcia: A third-generation Noble who seeks Cheza and Paradise to revive his lover, Hamona. His family is said to be cursed due to an incident caused by his grandfather.
Wolf's Rain - the storyline:
In a distant dystopian (negative utopian) future, legend states that wolves will find the way to Paradise, which will appear at the end of the world. Believed to have been hunted to extinction, the few remaining wolves survive by taking on human form. After escaping capture in poverty-stricken Freeze City, Kiba, a wolf determined to find Paradise, is joined in his quest by former gang leader Tsume, the carefree Hige and the young Toboe. Their search leads them to Cheza, the “Flower Maiden” who is destined to lead the wolves to Paradise and is being held by the Noble Darcia the Third.
Pursuing the wolves (because he blames them for the death of his family) is Quent Yaiden, a hunter who is determined to destroy them and whose dog, Blue, is more than she appears. Also in pursuit is Cher Degre, a scientist studying Cheza, and Cher’s ex-husband Hubb Lebowski, a detective still determined to protect her. As the wolves search for Cheza, they get caught in a power struggle between Darcia and his fellow Noble, Jagara, both of whom have their own reasons for desiring Paradise. |

Wolf’s Rain is not your typical post-apocalyptic future story, but an interesting series leaving us with the hope of a better future despite the horrors and pain of current circumstances.
