A fanatic of games and puzzles, young Yugi Muto assembles the Millennium Puzzle, a pyramid-shaped necklace. After putting it on, he soon discovers he can use the Puzzle to take on the personality of “Yami Yugi”, a cunning and ruthless expert in games who uses these skills to battle and punish evil people. He and his friends Tea, Joey and Tristan later get into
Duel Monsters, a popular playing card game featuring a variety of monsters and attack abilities, where Yugi, especially in his “Yami” personality, proves to be rather talented at it.
They soon discover, however, that there’s more to the game than it appears. The game’s creator, Maximillion Pegasus, has kidnapped Yugi’s grandfather, and the only way to rescue him is for Yugi to participate in and win Pegasus’ Duel Monsters Tournament. With his friends at his side, Yugi must face off against a variety of other Duelists, each of them rather ruthless and skilled and out to win for their own selfish reasons.
A bit more serious-minded than Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh! can be enjoyed by both younger and older anime fans. PLUS, it could be a great way to introduce Grandma and Grandpa to anime in a
buzzing kids world. ^.^
