Buzzing Kids World is always looking for new, Fun Ways to Learn. We work hard to encourage our kids to be creative and express themselves using cool, interesting and safe activities. Kids need to learn, but know what? Sometimes learning can be down-right BORING.

Imagine this: You’re a teacher and you have to stand in front of a room full of students. You look out on a sea of faces, glazed-eyes, kids staring out the window and maybe even someone doodling on their desk. Those are not Fun Ways to Learn. What’s an adult to do? You have to get, and hold, their attention! And then come up with cool new ideas to make lessons seem more like fun and less like a chore.

How can you make learning fun?

Creating Fun Ways to Learn is an art – and we know just how to do it. There aren’t going to be any more excuses like, “The Dog Ate My Homework!” Make it interesting. Get kids participating:
  • Create crossword puzzles - Have the kids create the clues from their geography assignment and fit the answers into the blank puzzle.
  • Scrabble, anyone? - What ever happened to correct spelling? Make paper tiles with the letters from the words and see how many words they can place on the Scrabble board
  • Have an online scavenger hunt - Kids use a search engine for keyword searches that leads them to the next step in the scavenger hunt. At the end they get the prize – finding the last clue and the prize of being successful!
  • Use or make videos - Want to make Shakespeare more interesting. Make a movie! Divide the class into teams (each team will have a different scent or act, a director and actors). Show the videos to the class. They can hold forums for Q & A after the performances.
  • Interactive storytelling - The group or class participate in developing the story from start to finish
  • Play games (turn a lesson into a case study) - Start off by telling kids a story. As they listen they jot down the “clues” that lead them to what the lesson is about. You’ll keep their attention and they will feel like they’re helping themselves with Fun Ways to Learn.

Kids love technology!

  • Use Internet searches to pull together information about a specific country and let kids make their own book. For example, say the assignment is about Singapore. They can learn by pretending they're going to travel there:
  • Search Google to find out about:
    • The climate
    • Religions
    • Dress
    • Animals
    • Recipes native to the region
    • Use Google Translate to find out how to say certain words in Chinese!
    • Compile everything into a book all about Singapore!
