Mage is an archaic word for magician - a person skilled in the mysterious and hidden art of magic, the ability to attain objectives, acquire knowledge, or perform works of wonder using supernatural or non-rational means.
Someday's Dreamers is a cute anime and manga series targeted towards pre-teen and teen girls; however, it's not so girlie that boys won't enjoy it too. In Magical Dreamer, Yume is the cute character, and although some think the series is a bit shallow in plot, it's an enjoyable watch or read.

Yume (Dream in Japanese) has just moved to Tokyo from Tono, a small country town in the Iwate Prefecture. She's starting her training to become a full fledged, licensed mage. Being a quiet, gentle type of country-girl, easily confused and swept up by Tokyo, Yume just can't seem to do anything right. When she tries to repay a stranger, Zennosuke, for his kindness, she ends up insulting him instead, and unknowingly breaks several Bureau of Mage Labor laws. Yume has a lot to live up to though because her mother, Kikuchi Etsuko, is a very distinguished mage.
Mages aren't allowed to use their powers without an approved request by the Bureau of Mage Labor. They work for prefectures, or counties, and typically are dispatched by the Bureau to use their powers for individual requests. Mages are under a lot of restrictions and aren't allowed to use their talents in the medical field.
If you're looking for something cute and uplifting and an easy watch, this is it in a buzzing kids world.
