The cast of the hit animated series “The Powerpuff Girls” is long and extensive and can’t be simply compiled into one list. Here is the first of several lists describing the various characters of the series, starting with the superheroes themselves (and including their powers). While not every character who has appeared in the series will be listed, a majority of the supporting characters and the more regular and memorable villains will be in separate articles. |

The Powerpuff Girls - the superheroes:

- Blossom: wearing a pink dress with long red hair tied with a red bow, Blossom is the oldest and leader of the Powerpuff Girls. She is a natural leader, having a talent for tactics and being smart. However, she also tends to be rather bossy, which leads to fights with her sisters.
- Bubbles: the “cute one”, Bubbles wears baby blue and has blonde hair tied into a pair of pigtails. She is often seen as the “baby” of the Girls, crying whenever she’s upset but does have a meanstreak when pushed too far. She loves animals (except cockroaches), and has been shown to have an ability to communicate with them.
- Buttercup: a tomboy who wears green and has short black hair, Buttercup is the fighter of the team and resident hothead. She’ll fight with her sisters as much as will the bad guys, teasing Bubbles and butting heads with Blossom over tactics. Despite this, she does have her soft side, having a security blanket and sticking up for her sisters.

The Powerpuff Girls - their powers:
For the most part, the Powerpuff Girls all have the same powers:
- They can fly, often leaving a streak of light in their signature-colors behind them
- They have super-strength and speed
- They are invulnerable to harm (they’ve been seen to survive explosions, though sometimes their clothes and hair can get messed up, and they’ve even had their teeth busted out)
- They’ve also used powers such as:
- Heat vision, firing energy beams in their respective colors
- The “Tornado” attack

Occasionally, each of the Powerpuff Girls has displayed other powers outside their normal set, sometimes ones that are unique to them.
- Blossom has been shown to have an “ice breath” that can freeze objects, as well as a “fire breath”
- Bubbles, in addition to being able to speak to animals, has had a sonic scream, and can become the strongest of the trio when becoming really mad
- Buttercup hasn’t really displayed unique powers of her own she doesn’t share with her sisters, but does have an ability to curl her tongue
