Relay Race Ideas
Ok, teamsters! The Olympians aren't the only game players in town! Us kids rock at games. And a relay with batons isn't the only cool idea on the planet. We've got tons of fun ideas!
Let the Games Begin!
| Beach Ball Relay Race | |

Supplies needed: One large beach ball per team (don't forget an extra in case you break one!) Rules, Relayers! No hands, arms or feet allowed to move the balloon forward. Us kids team up with a partner and move the balloon toward the finish line with our chests. Hands are allowed for picking up the balloon if it falls; BUT, no forward movement is allowed until the balloon is properly placed again. Sorry, Charlie!

| Egg and Spoon Relay Race |

Rules, Relayers! Team members have to balance eggs in a spoon as they race to pass it on. Don't drop the egg 'cause If it falls off the spoon the runner has to get it before continuing the race. Mom, Dad, this can also be done as a swimming event (swimmers hold spoon with their teeth). Just remember, you have to stick around and supervise!

| Passing the Ball Relay Race |

Supplies needed: One 6"-9" ball per team Rules, Relayers! Each player has to pass the ball to the next team member neck to neck without using their hands at all. The fun part is watching the wacky body angles as each kid maneuvers to accomplish the challenge. Alternating boy, girl, boy, girl in the lineup adds to the fun! |
| Sack Hopping Relay Race |

Supplies needed: One sack for each racer Rules, Relayers! Divide into teams. Each racer steps into his/her sack and while holding it hops to the finish line so the next racer can continue until every kid has taken a turn. The tricky thing is to keep your balance and not trip or fall!

| Three Legged Relay Race |

Supplies needed: Velcro, rope or old stockings to tie the ankles together Rules, Relayers! The left leg of one kid is tied to the right leg of the other. You get a 5 minute practice, then you run the marked-off pathway and the next team continues until everyone has a turn. The secret is to coordinate moving your "third leg" so you don't fall.
